Rabia Siddiqui
Rabia Siddiqui is no stranger to secondhand scraps. They are a multi-faceted artist who takes pride in digital collage, cutout poetry, performance, embroidery, and sculpture. Rabi finds that these fragments of personhood within art are a scattered map to divine from, to become lost in stitches and tedium.
Much of Rabi’s work is found in the intersection between minority cultures and spirituality. Growing up in the Bible Belt with a Muslim background forced them to find the loopholes in dogmatic religion, as it held no room for them to exist as their queer self in peace. In truth, the nuance of esotericism is found in every culture as it reaches into the divine and otherwise. Through this exploration of knowledge and information, one can further inner pursuits rather than just living life as performance.
Rabi has curated and taken part in a variety of community events, exhibitions, and markets in Starkville, Mississippi as well as online. Rabi will hold a BFA with a concentration in Sculpture from Mississippi State University in 2024.
