​Hayla Hay (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist specializing in performance art who lives and works in Detroit.

Performance has been a natural method of exploration for Hay since she was raised in theatre. The ability to assume the identity of other characters caused her to question what performing aspects of herself and her experiences would look like, as well as what parts of her personality are performance. These ideas present themselves with a playful yet disturbing wit, lying within the abject through photography, film and sculpting. The emotions of disgust and discomfort are feelings she strives to evoke within people, innocently tied in a delicate bow.

Hayla Hay received her BFA with a focus in Photography and Painting. On top of her artistic endeavors she is an arts administrator currently working at Detroit Artists Market. Outside of her work, she is an avid reader, collects cameo jewelry and fantasizes about being in the circus.
